My phone didn't do justice to the picture. The clouds were red and the sun in the middle was blood red. Clouds aren't usually red. It was smoke and it looked like it was coming from just over the ridge from us. We had no idea about how far away it was or how fast it would get to us. Very scary! The thing that made it even scarier was that we had just let our kids go off on the 4 wheelers and had no idea how to get them back. We decided to pack up camp and keep watching to see if the smoke seemed to go away or get worse. We have never packed up our camp so fast. Luckily, just as we finished getting the camp packed up, our kids arrived back into camp. As we were loading the 4 wheelers onto the trailer the forest patrol came riding through with load speakers announcing an emergency evacuation. We found out when we finally drove away that the fire was 2 ridges away and probably would not have reached our camp but they needed to clear us out just as a precaution. They didn't need to twist my arm to much. I was out of there!
